I have never known for sure what Mackenzie is. The original vet said Bulldog mix, the second said Boxer mix. I've had a boxer breeder randomly come up in a park and go "oh you have a boxer" and then stop and go "uh, well, except that nose." When I bring her to the meetups she doesn't look at thing like the boxers. She's too big, her face is too long, etc. The boxers look like her face shoved back in their head. So I was leaning towards Bulldog mix.

The end of last year they came out with the Wisdom Panel dna test. For those of you not familiar check out http://www.wisdompane... . They have a search feature right on the main page that lets you find a vet that offers the service. Luckily mine already did. I also know that most of you have purebreads, I'm just passing the info along.

Moving on (sorry for the lengthy post), I got my results back a couple weeks back and basically 'Kenz is a mutt. The breeds that were detected were American Staffordshire Terrier, Boston Terrier, Norwich Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Vizsla. However they were barely detected. I think they go back 4 generations in the Wisdom panel.

Kind of interesting. (Kenz's profile) http://www.wisdompane...

After I get a few things situated (had to move out of my rental house unexpectedly last month) I think I am going to get Mackenzie a brother (Boxer brother). Then I will actually have a dog that wants to play at meetups vs. steal everyone's toys. biggrin

Well I still say she is a boxer.. just because! What would we do if we lost our Official Greeter?

ROFL......and lately you and Dan have me beat there!

I didn't say I wouldn't be bringing my faux-boxer to more meetups. biggrin

I just said that I will be getting a real Boxer sometime after I get situated.

Wow that website is really interesting. I would love to test our girl, she looks 100% boxer, but we have no papers and i think it would be kind of fun. How much did the test cost if you don't mind me asking.

We want to make it to the meetup group b/c Jerzy is dying to have some fun with other boxers. If grandma will watch the kids we're there for sure!

Each vet sets their rate. Between $100 and $200.

My vet charged $120 (Hidden Hills Animal Hospital) and nothing else if you were going in for a checkup or something else, if you were going in just to have this done an office visit would also be charged. I just had it done when Kenz was getting her shots.

Really reasonable in my opinion.

Hope you and Jerzy can make it to the next meetup! -Bryan
